EnviroMission Limited (www.enviromission.com.au) produced this 5 minute video on the pilot plant in Spain. It is an older video (2000) but gives a decent understanding of the solar tower concept.

EnviroMission, Ltd. (US Market: EVOMY, Australian Exchange: EVM) is a renewable energy developer of sustainable “green” energy solutions for the energy market. EnviroMission aims to be one of Australia’s leading producers of clean Renewable energy. EnviroMission holds the proprietary rights to Solar Tower technology, a large-scale renewable energy technology based on simple fundamentals of physics — hot air rises. Solar Tower technology has the potential to offer competitive renewable energy with equal reliability to fossil fuel generators.

A single 200MW Solar Tower power station will provide enough electricity to power around 400,000 households. The Energy output will represent an annual saving of more than 1,960,000 tonnes of greenhouse CO2 gases from entering the environment when compared to brown coal emissions in Victoria. The greenhouse savings equate to the removal of approximately 500,000 cars from the road. The Australian Solar Tower project consists of six distinct phases, the first two of which (project optimization and pre-feasibility commercialization) have already been completed. The third phase (final feasibility), paving the way for the implementation of the next three phases (final design, construction, and commercial operation).

India, Canada sign civil nuclear agreement
posted by: admin in Nuclear on 06 30th, 2010 | | No Comments »

Toronto, June 28 (ANI): Breaking new grounds in their bilateral relationship, India and Canada on Sunday signed a civil nuclear cooperation agreement. Secretary of department of India Atomic Energy, Srikumar Banerjee signed the agreement with Lawrence Cannon, Canada’s Foreign Minister in the presence of Prime Ministers Manmohan Singh and Stephen Harper. The 2008 civil nuclear accord between the United States and India ended the Nuclear isolation India had experienced since its 1974 atomic test and gave it access to U.S. technology and fuel, while also opening up the global market to India.

I’m 22 and I need to do something with my life. The salaries of the two careers are around the same, but I want a job that will last. Renewable Energy is suppose to be big in the future, but I’m sure how many jobs will be available. Any suggestions?

Go with electrician first. The chances are great that those skills will carry over into other things like electronics. You can still take classes for Renewable energy technician at night after work. There is no need to end your education simply because you have gained a career.

Electrician is a proven and lasting career field. Go with it.
Renewable Energy still has a long way to go before it can offer you a promising future you can depend on.

I want to do a science project where I create my own solar panels out of different materials to see which one will produce the greatest amount of Energy. Is this a realistic topic if it has to be done before Thanksgiving? If so, how do I make the solar panels? How do I measure/convert the energy? Please help!

Your best bet is making solar water heating panels. You could make them out of copper, PVC, and garden hose, and compare which gets hotter. Check out this site for ideas. http://www.builditsolar.com/

Avoid the scams out there saying you can build your own panel for $200 to power your whole house. You can’t. There are some free instructions on the You Build It site that are legit.

I’m curious about the physics behind what really causes the shape of a mushroom cloud after a Nuclear detonation. Is it possible to have a different shape? If so, what other shapes might it resemble? If no, what forces are acting upon the cloud to make it only take a single form? I assume there are lots of environmental factors such as wind, air pressure, temperature and such. What I want to really know, is how do all the factors work together to create such a beautiful, but deadly symbol of nuclear technology.

It really has to do with the bomb itself the mushroom shape is caused because as the extremely hot nuclear material cools it rises up the hot column which is very dense and falling, and then once it is free at the top the density decreases and it spreads out forming the top of the mushroom, the environmental factors are non-existent anyway because the bomb destroys any wind patterns, humidity ( evaporates ), and it causes the temperate to rise to huge levels.

Although different bombs leave different types of " mushrooms" e.g. hydrogen bombs cores are so dense they tend to say low to the ground and form huge tops that are very fat and wide, all conventional nuclear devices leave that shape.

The Bespoke Gift Company
posted by: admin in Uncategorized on 06 30th, 2010 | | No Comments »

The Bespoke Gift Company is a great site for anyone who is looking for a unique gift for a loved one. With the majority of people purchasing anything they desire it’s difficult to purchase anything great for special occasions. Previous generations have been able to purchase a gift that someone has wanted for ages and for the gift recipient to be trilled with the gift. This doesn’t seem to be the case anymore which is a little bit sad. With great places like The Bespoke Gift Company you can get unique and personalised gifts for loved ones, although the gift will not be something the person has desired for ages it will be something they will love because of the thought. Because it’s personalised no one else will have one quite the same as the gift recipients. Don’t hesitate visiting The Bespoke Gift Company website, there are so many options out there for you, you’ll be stuck for choice!

BHS online
posted by: admin in Uncategorized on 06 30th, 2010 | | No Comments »

I love big stores where everything is under one roof, it’s great just pottering around the store and looking at anything from frying pans to shoes. It almost makes shopping for pans enjoyable (don’t ask me how!:) )Although I look shopping for everything under one roof I still physically have to go to the shop which I don’t like as much. Battling to park and then paying for parking (which I think is completely stupid if you’re purchasing something in a store) and then fighting the crowds to get into the store! I must admit I enjoy shopping online for this reason as much as shopping in big stores. BHS is fantastic not only is BHS a big store known for having everything under one roof but they are online as well! I am able to purchasing whatever I like from the same store in the comfort of my own home. What more could I want? Don’t forget BHS next time you want to shop online or on the high street.

If you have an old or broken phone that you’re no longer using, it’s now possible to sell your cell phone to one of several companies that will pay you to recycle it. Rather than donating it to a charity or environmental group for free, or throwing it on the landfill, you can locate a company offering the best rates for your particular brand and model of phone and receive payment directly in the mail.

Where to Sell Your  Phone so I can get Cash for Mobile

Depending upon the model and condition, there are many ways that you can successfully sell your cell phone. Craigslist and eBay are popular options for selling a phone that is newer and in great working condition. Conduct a quick search to see the going rate for your model, and if you decide to sell, all you’ll need to do is create a quick listing with some photos and wait for a buyer. Even more convenient are the options to research pricing and sell your cell phone directly to one of many companies that specialize in buying and recycling used cell phones and electronics.

I was asked for a school assignment to choose an informative article on a topic that interests me and answer some questions about it. I picked a National Geographic article called Green Dreams, which is about future forms of Renewable Energy. go google the article if you don’t know what I’m talking about. I’m just trying to make sure that I actually picked an informative article. Thanks!

Heck yes that is definitely informative! And good for you for doing your part to educate the general populous on important environmental issues.
