In June we are planning to conduct public hearings on the construction of the 3rd and 4th units of Leningrad NPP-2. This misinformation about radiation accident at Leningrad NPP has been spread by the opponents of the hearings. I regret that certain people are engaged in spreading rumors even though we have ensured public access to all information concerning Leningrad NPP and each resident of our country can learn what is going on there whenever he likes.
Several weeks ago Leningrad NPP already fell victim to similar misinformation spread by Lithuanian mass media. There have been more such cases before. I think that the key reason for such an annoying interest of some local and foreign mass media to our nuclear energy sector is due to growing competition on the world nuclear energy market. Russian nuclear technologies are a big thorn in flesh for many, especially now that they are reviving. Very many people are ready to pay money to create a negative picture of our nuclear energy sector in the minds of the Europeans. And there are certain people who are ready to do dirty work for the money.
