Mikhail Grishankov, first vice chairman of Sate Duma Security Committee

– It is obvious that the rumors about radioactive release at Leningrad NPP were an attempt to discredit the whole nuclear energy sector of Russia

It is obvious that the rumors about a radioactive release at Leningrad NPP were an attempt to discredit the whole nuclear energy sector of Russia. It was one of the methods of information war.

I think that it will be difficult to find out who has organized this provocation but we must do it.

The key reason for this wave of provocations is the colossal growth our nuclear power industry has experienced in the last three years. The Russian Government has set very ambitious tasks and it is obvious that nuclear energy has no alternative in the near future. That’s exactly why many countries are actively developing this sector. Russia keeps strengthening its positions on the nuclear energy market. We have highly competitive technologies and vast knowledge and experience. It seems that many people do not like this. That’s why they are attempting to discredit our nuclear energy sector.

Such provocations are part of information war and the war of technologies on the world market.

Some players of this market prefer methods of secret war over fair competition.
