– The information attack on Leningrad NPP is part of competition strategies of certain organizations

On Tuesday some sources spread rumors about a release of radiation at Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant and planned evacuation of people from its satellite city, Sosnovy Bor.

I see no alternative to nuclear energy for our country. I am not afraid of radiation as I know that our reactors are safe and efficient and our nuclear power engineers are constantly improving them so as to exclude any possibility of accident.

This information attack against Leningrad NPP is part of competition strategies of certain organizations.

This is an attempt to cultivate distrust and panic among our people and thereby to prevent the implementation of our large-scale NPP construction program.

Note

The radiation situation at Leningrad Nuclear Power Plant and in the nearby area is within norm.

The radiation background in the area is not higher than the natural level, which proves that the plant is operating safely.

The radiation background at Leningrad NPP, in Sosnovy Bor and its suburbs is 0.13 mSvh, which is normal background for this region.
