The peculiarity of Kudankulam NPP is that here, unlike Tianwan NPP, which was a “turnkey” project, Atomstroyexport is just drafting design documents, supervising the construction of the plant and delivering equipment and materials from Russia and third countries. We are also helping our Indian partners to install and start up the equipment and training operating and maintenance personnel. The rest of the work – all construction and installation operations – is being carried out by the Indians.
Our obligations to India also concern the supply of nuclear fuel. Russia is meeting the schedule of deliveries. The fuel will be supplied in several lots. Even though India is doing a very good job under the project, the launch of the plant may be delayed a bit due to certain difficulties and revisions.
