Konstantin Zaytsev, vice chairman of State Duma Energy Committee

– Kudankulam NPP is one of the projects we can be proud of

Kudankulam NPP is one of the projects we can be proud of. It has one more interesting peculiarity: the plant is being built by the Indians, unlike Tianwan NPP (China), which was built by Russian specialists.

In India the whole construction and installation work is being carried out by the Indians. Atomstroyexport has just 80 specialists there. This is quite useful for the Indians as they are acquiring positive experience in the field of NPP construction and peaceful use of nuclear energy. They are successfully overcoming all obstacles they are facing on their way.

Temporary problems are causing certain delays but this is not a serious obstacle. Kudankulam is expected to be the most powerful nuclear power plant in India. I am sure that the Indians will ensure high quality and safety of the construction.

As regards Russia, it is timely meetings its obligations to the partners: on May 25 it delivered the first lot of nuclear fuel for the plant.
