– Russia is meeting its obligations under contract with India

The delivery of nuclear fuel to Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (India) has proved that Russia is fully meeting its obligations under the contract for the supply of nuclear fuel to the plant. India is an important client and partner for Russia as it has large-scale plans to increase the total capacity of its nuclear power plants to 40GW by 2025.

In Feb 2008 the governments of Russia and India initialed a framework agreement for cooperation in the construction of four more reactors at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plants (Tamil Nadu state) and at other construction sites. So, the possible delays of the project will have no negative effects on Atomstroyexport in terms of additional expenses on maintenance of personnel and infrastructure as the parties are already planning to build more reactors. According to the agreement, the reactors will be controlled by the International Atomic Energy Agency throughout their lives in line with a guarantee agreement to be signed by India and the IAEA.
