– India is interested in acquiring experience of construction of nuclear reactors of Russian design

The Indians are interested in acquiring experience of construction of nuclear reactors of Russian design as this will help them to build more NPPs in the future. According to the contract with India, Atomstroyexport is supplying them with equipment and documentation and is training operating personnel.

The rest of the work is being done by the Indians under our supervision. Of course, the lack of experience is creating certain problems but the Indians will certainly solve them. I would like to note that India is an important client and partner for Russia.

In Feb 2008 India and Russia initialed a framework inter-governmental agreement for cooperation in the construction of four more reactors at Kudankulam (state of Tamil Nadu) and at other sites. This is a big economic achievement for both countries.
