Russia is fully meeting its obligations under the contract for the supply of nuclear fuel to Kudankulam NPP. We should develop our cooperation in all directions as Russia is one of the leading nuclear powers of the world. We are gradually restoring our leading positions in the field of supply of fuel and equipment for nuclear power plants. Many countries are analyzing the present situation on the market and are opting for Russia and its safe and efficiency technologies despite the political pressure of the West.
The strategic nuclear partnership between India and Russia is gaining momentum. India is going to develop nuclear energy on a long-term basis and wants to do it independently on the basis of Russian technologies. This is important for India and its plans to reduce its energy dependence. Our specialists at Kudankulam (some 100 people) are successfully helping the Indians to do it. Presently, the Indians have started the installation and start-up stage. Over 83% of necessary equipment and 98% of all project documentation have already been supplied to the site. The rest of the work is being done by the Indians, who are acquiring unique experience of NPP construction for use in the future.
