Atomstroyexport CJSC, Russia’s operator of NPP construction projects, and St.Petersburg Atomenergoproekt, one of the three Russian institutes designing nuclear power plants, will be merged.
The merger is supposed to create new opportunities for enlargement of NPP construction activities.
The merger of Atomstroyexport and Atomenergoproekt is a step towards an EPC company offering the full cycle of NPP construction services, i.e. “turnkey” projects. It is very important when the constructor and the designer represent one and the same company and are responsible for the project from its first sketch to the launch. This is exactly what our nuclear power industry needs today. Until now we have had no such structure. Let’s hope that the new company will serve as an example for other Russian companies.
This merger will give the company a new competitive advantage on the international market: now it will have its won designer, an engineering company enjoying a very high rating in the world. Atomenergoproekt has designed lots of projects. Tianwan NPP is one of them. In other words, it will be a new highly competitive company with enhanced technological capacities and high chances on the international market.
The experience acquired by Atomstroyexport managers during Rosatom’s projects abroad will be certainly used under NPP construction projects in Russia. It will be the first company with so serious capacities and I am sure that it will take a very active part in the construction of new NPPs in Russia.
