Atomstroyexport CJSC, Russia’s operator of NPP construction projects, and St.Petersburg Atomenergoproekt, one of the three Russian institutes designing nuclear power plants, will be merged.
The merger is supposed to create new opportunities for enlargement of NPP construction activities.
By merging St.Petersburg Atomenergoproekt and Atomstroyexport Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation will get a big engineering holding.
This merger is absolutely expedient. First of all, it will make it easier for the companies to manage their joint projects. For example, Atomenergoproekt is the designer of the Tianwan NPP build by Atomstroyexport. So, now it will be much easier for the companies to build new reactors at Tianwan should China express such a wish.
Second, Atomstroyexport, a company that builds NPPs abroad, has long said that it wants to build nuclear reactors in Russia too. And here the experience of SPbAEP is really invaluable. Atomstroyexport may also want to take part in the engineering of new types of reactors.
New engineering capacities will help Atomstroyexport to enlarge its competences and to enhance the competitiveness of its projects in Russia and abroad.
