– Development of nuclear energy is constantly in the center of the attention of the President, Prime Minister and Government

Today, we see that the development of nuclear energy is crucial for the energy security of our country. Nuclear technologies are the most progressive sector for the moment. In order to ensure their active development, we need to reform our legislation, we need complex and comprehensive reforms. Without effective system of scientific-technical support, we will not be able to create a closed technological chain.

Unless we treat fundamental sciences professionally, we may come across a gap that we will not be able to pas. I think that today we must actively work in this direction since in the 1980s-1990s we did almost nothing in this field. The current financial crisis must not be an obstacle. We must actively support our science so as to be able to move forward and to ensure the innovative development and competitiveness of our country. 

Today, one of our national priorities in the face of the global crisis is the development of high-tech industries of the real sector. In this light, we, senators, have expressed support for the early adoption of the federal target program “Nuclear Power Technologies of New Generation.” This program will help us to effectively modernize our existing reactors and to design new ones.

Development of nuclear energy is constantly in the center of the attention of the President, Prime Minister and Government. This sector will receive all the financing it is supposed to. It is a strategic sphere and we must support it if we want to have enough energy for developing our economy.
