— State Duma supported Rosatom’s plans to develop Russia’s nuclear power sector

On Dec 13 the State Duma heard the report of the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko and unanimously supported Rosatom’s proposals and plans for developing the nuclear power sector of Russia.

It should be noted that the speech of Kiriyenko was quite impressive and positive. The head of Rosatom gave a clear picture of the situation in our nuclear power sector and thoroughly analyzed the prospects of development under different scenarios. He made clear what should be done for attaining growth in the sector. One of the key points of the speech was that Kiriyenko clearly specified the steps taken so far under the previous documents on the nuclear power sector development.

He briefed us on the concept of financing of new NPP construction. The report was laconic and informative.

Of course, some deputies still had questions — and some of them were quite serious — particularly, about the reforms in the sector, but Kiriyenko convinced them.
