Ernest Belokorovin, deputy of Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly

— Floating NPP will give profit as alternative source of energy

The construction of a floating NPP in the Arkhangelsk region should be accompanied with «round-tables» and public discussions, says the deputy of the Arkhangelsk Regional Assembly Ernest Belokorovin.

He says that the project of floating NPP will give profit as an alternative source of energy. That’s why it is necessary to gather scientists, Rosatom representatives and other competent and concerned people so they can openly speak about the necessity of the NPP for the Arkhangelsk region. «Even more, we should hold a public discussion in order to hear the opinion of the population,» Belokorovin said.

To remind, the project of floating NPP in Severodvinsk was launched this summer. The cost of the project is almost 9.1bln RUR. The plant is to be built by 2010. As far as Rosatom knows, in the near future there will be demand for such plants in many Russian regions and foreign countries.
