Sergey Ivanov supports the construction of floating NPPs

Vice Premier-Defense Minister of Russia Sergey Ivanov believes that the construction of floating NPPs is one of the most promising directions of the shipbuilding industry. «The Government has approved a program to build floating NPPs and the first such project was launched at SevMach,» Ivanov said.

«I think that this is a very promising sphere. Only 1–2 states, except Russia, have such technologies,» he said.

«This is a very interesting and promising niche for our shipbuilding. Of course, we should consider all safety standards in implementing such projects,» Ivanov said.

In response to the question of Interfax Agency of Military News, Ivanov said that there are certain threats in the sea activities. «These threats are not of specific nature but come from the general challenges observed in the world: terrorism, security problems, maritime traffic, the necessity to protect transport communications,» Ivanov said.
