Konstantin Buevich, Deputy Governor of Tver region

— In 2010 the Tver region will generate 35mln KWh a year

Two holidays have been marked at the Tver Training and Production Center of Power Engineering – the Day of Power Engineer and the 50th anniversary of the formation of the united energy system of Russia. 80 years have passed since the adoption of the Soviet state electricfication plan. Today, power engineers play a very important role in Russia. That’s why their professional holiday has become a nationwide holiday.

The current reforms are expected to bring economic growth and social prosperity, Deputy Governor of the Tver region Konstantin Buyevich said while opening the celebration.

The Tver region is the energy donor of Central Russia. It produces 4 times as much as it consumes. In 2005 the energy consumption in Tver totaled 5.5bln KWh – 21% of what the region produced. The region hosts the biggest generating companies in the Central Federal District – Kalinin NPP and Konakovo TPP, which generate a total of 5,000 MW. By 2010 Kalinin NPP is planning to launch its 4th unit. So, the Tver energy sector has quite good prospects.

Buevich said that among the priorities of the regional authorities is to support the energy sector as the key factor for improving the living standard in the region.

By 2010 the Tver region will significantly raise its investment appeal. The region will produce over 35bln KWh and 80% of the electricity will be exported to other regions.

The RAO UES reforms have divided the Russian energy sector into three components: generation, networks and sales. However, the biggest companies of the region should work on a collective basis and should be oriented towards the client, Buevich said.

He presented certificates of honor to Director General of Tver Energy Sale Company Vladislav Novozhilov and Acting Director General of Tverenergo Sergey Yelkin. He thanked all power engineers and congratulated veterans on the holiday.
