Abram Ioirysh, Head of Group for Legal Problems of Nuclear Power Use

— Our victories in international tenders have proved Russia’s high authority on the international market of nuclear technologies

Doctor of Law, Professor, Honored Lawyer of Russia, senior researcher, Head of the Group for the Legal Problems of Nuclear Power Use of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences, expert of the State Duma Abram Ioirysh has commented on the results of the year for the Russian nuclear power sector:

The «Tunnel Law» approved by the State Duma in the first reading on Dec 6 is very important for the nuclear power industry. It is also important that this year the sector has received big financing due to the President’s support.

The whole world realizes the necessity to develop the nuclear power sector but our Government and our President have made specific decisions to finance target programs, to separate the civil and military sectors, to improve the situation in some sectors and to involve youth in the sphere.

Our victories in international tenders — already 3 — have proved Russia’s high authority on the international market of nuclear technologies.

Concerning the problem of the village of Muslumovo, formerly the authorities just talked about the need to help the people but this year they allocated money and are already providing the villagers with housing. Now they can get 1 million RUR and buy  new houses in any other place at their own choice. This is real support and real care.

This year the Government has taken real steps to organize the first international center for uranium enrichment on the basis of Angara Electrolysis Chemical Factory.

This all is quite a big corner stone for the new «nuclear house.»

Huge funds have been allocated for the implementation of the President’s tasks and this will allow us to do what we plan for the next year. We all expect that 2007 will mark the beginning of nuclear energy renaissance in Russia.
