In order to establish Rosatom State Corporation we have amended 18 existing and adopted 1 new special law – such unprecedented measures are dictated by the situation on the world market. Rosatom state corporation is, first of all, an effective instrument of competition with world leading companies, giants like Areva, Westinghouse, Toshiba.

In the Soviet times our nuclear industry was represented by Minsredmash, a powerful but outdated structure. Today, our government has allocated trillions of rubles under two federal target programs: for developing nuclear industry and for ensuring nuclear and radiation safety. Only a giant state corporation can “digest” such big money and effectively solve our urgent problems. In fact, Rosatom State Corporation will be responsible for fulfillment of state defense order, protection of state secret, preservation of fissile materials, management of personnel, generation of electricity by nuclear power plants, construction of NPPs and development of new promising projects.
