Sergey Golubchikov, head of Ecology department of “Energy: Economics, Technology, Ecology” magazine of Russian Academy of Sciences

– In the last two years Rosatom has done much work to solve its problems

Particularly, for the first time since all-mighty Minsredmash, we have started to solve our ecological problems. In 2006 Rosatom allocated 600mln RUR and the administration of Chelyabinsk added 450bln RUR for the resettlement of the residents of the village of Muslumovo to new places. For the first time, we have allocated such a big sum for solving the problems of ordinary people.

Today, Rosatom is actively resettling the residents of Muslumovo. Over 500 of 741 households have already decided where to live and have applied for 1,000,000 RUR compensation. The compensation is paid by Rosatom and the government of Chelyabinsk region for old houses so the hosts can buy new ones.

To remind, Muslumovo and Techa River suffered from a Soviet-time nuclear project. Experts say that, theoretically, the residents of Muslumovo may receive 1 mSv a year, which is more than allowed in Russia.
