This year we have adopted two crucial laws: in Feb-Apr we approved a law on the establishment of Atomenergoprom OJSC, a holding that is supposed to help us to enhance our competitiveness on the world market and to increase the electricity production inside the country, and, quite recently, we passed a law on the establishment of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation, a structure that is supposed to strengthen the links between the civil and military sectors of our nuclear industry.
The tasks of the industry are quite clear and very important: the military sector should preserve its potential and develop its prospective projects, the nuclear power plants should increase their share in the total electricity production from present 16% to 25%-30% in 2030, on the world market of high nuclear technologies our industry should be able to successfully compete with the world’s giants.
I would like to point out one important decision: the Government has decided to intensively develop nuclear science and is ready to spend big money on it. Still, we have one acute problem: we urgently need young researchers and power engineers.
