– We have managed to fulfill all the tasks we set in late 2006-early 2007

In the past year the Public Council of Rosatom has managed to fulfill all the tasks it set in late 2006-early 2007 when it had been formed.

We have conducted a number of meetings and have thoroughly analyzed the reforms that are being carried out in the sphere – from the establishment of Atomenergoprom to the formation of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation. The head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko took an active part in our meetings and helped us much.

We have also considered the problem of destruction of decommissioned nuclear submarines and the whole complex of problems of the Navy facilities in Murmansk region. Our key project in the past year is the support for the resettlement of the residents of Muslumovo (Chelyabinsk region) and Okstyabrsky (Chita region). In 2008 the Public Council is going to establish its offices in Irkutsk and Murmansk regions and later in Krasnoyarsk and Chelyabinsk regions. Our key mission is to become a friendly interface between the nuclear power industry and the public. I am sure that we can do it.
