– I welcome plans to build NPP in Tver region

I welcome the plans to build a nuclear power plant in Rzhevsk or Udomlia district of Tver region as it is a well-balanced choice between the need to develop power generating plants in the region and our duty not to damage ecology.

Nuclear power plant is the most ecologicaly safe source of energy. It is safer than water power plants or thermal power plants. On the other hand, this big project (one more 1,150 MW reactor to be built in 2011–2015 and three more WWER reactors – in 2016–2020) is a source of thousands of new jobs and additional tax payments.

To remind, on Mar 12 the Government of the Russian Federation approved the general scheme for allocation of power facilities in the territory of Russia till 2020.
