– Construction of nuclear power plant is important for Chelyabinsk region

Presently, the energy shortfall in Chelyabisnk region makes up almost 30%. So, the region needs a nuclear power plant. The construction of the 1st reactor is to be started in 2016 with a total of four reactors to be built.

Presently, we are conducting a feasibility study, drafting a declaration of intention and carrying out other preparatory work, particularly, selecting the site. The preparatory work is being carried out by RFNC-VNIIEF (Snezhinsk) with the financial support of Rosatom. The preparatory stage is to be finished in late 2009.

This project is very important for Chelyabinsk region. Today, our region is quickly developing: production is growing by 14%-15% a year, construction is keeping pace. Such a growth needs more energy.

Most of our residents realize the necessity of the project.

Of course, we will do our best to ensure highest possible safety of the plant.
