– It is difficult to overestimate the importance of Russian-US agreement for cooperation in peaceful uses of nuclear energy

As a result of over 20 years of negotiations, the Untied States and Russia, two great nuclear powers, two leading players on the world nuclear energy market, have signed a document paving the way for enhanced mutual confidence and transparency in a very sensitive field. So, it is really difficult to overestimate the importance of this agreement.

In this field Russia and the Untied States can carry out a number of mutually beneficial joint projects: particularly, Rosatom and its US partners may cooperate on production of fuel for Russian and US nuclear power plants, on construction of nuclear facilities and on assistance of third countries in developing their own nuclear power industries. We are getting closer and are beginning to better understand each other and this will certainly have a positive effect on the development of nuclear energy worldwide and will open up new opportunities for exchange of ideas and technologies.
