Independent ecologists: the radiation background in Sosnovy Bor is within norm

Today a group of employees of Green World ecological organization (Sosnovy Bor) measured radiation background in the city – their meters showed 0.15–0.17 mSvh, which is within norm.

The chairman of the board of the Green World Oleg Bodrov says that he personally measured radiation background near his office in the very heart of the city by means of Expert meter. The specialists of the organization are constantly monitoring the radiation situation in the area and have detected no changes in it in the last 24 hours.

In early May Baltic mass media spread a report about accident at Leningrad NPP in Sosnovy Bor, however, the press service of the plant said that it was an allegation and that the possible reason for such rumors was the testing of the 3rd unit after overhaul.

The possible cause of the rumors might be the concern of some circles for the preparations for the construction of Leningrad NPP-2.

The head of the Administration of Sosnovy Bor Dmitry Pulyayevsky has instructed the police to find the authors of the allegations and to make them responsible for deceiving people.
