By the end of this summer Inter RAO will draft scheme for selling electricity of future Kaliningrad NPP

By the end of this summer Inter RAO will draft a scheme for selling electricity of the future Kaliningrad Nuclear Power Plant, the director general of RAO Nordic (subsidiary of Inter RAO) Ivan Abramov said during the Baltic Economic Forum.

At the same time, the company is drafting a scheme for attracting investments in the project.

“Our task for the moment is to develop a clear demand system, which will serve as a basis for attracting investments in the project,” Abramov said.

Inter RAO is planning to start negotiations with consumers from the countries neighboring on Kaliningrad region. “Here, we may face certain political problems but economically this project is attractive for not only Russia but also its neighbors,” Abramov said.

One of the key topics of the energy session of the Baltic Economic Forum was the energy supply of the Baltic region after the shut-down of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (Lithuania). “The idea to build Kaliningrad NPP fits well into the logic of the present situation in the region: it can cover the possible energy shortfalls in the area,” Abramov said.

Inter RAO has set up a special group for drafting sales schemes.
