Head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko has held a conference in the framework of the 12th St.Petersburg International Economic Forum

One of the key events of the forum on June 7 was the “Energy: Global Players and Arbiters” conference.

Director General of Rosatom State Nuclear Energy Corporation Sergey Kiriyenko was the moderator of the conference. Among the participants were the chairman of the Board of Gazprom Aleksey Miller, the president of the World Bank, the chief executive of BP group Tony Hayward, the president of Lukoil Vahid Alakbarov, the managers of Total, Chevron, Shell. In his report Miller forecast a growing crisis on the energy markets. He pointed out that despite this gloom prospect, some political leaders continued creating obstacles to the laying of new gas pipelines from Russia to Europe as they had probably not yet decided what was more scary for them: the made-up Russian threat or the real energy hunger.

The economic reports of Gazprom say that in the last years that company has increased its gas production and supply by 70bln c m, while on the US market this index has dropped by 30bln c m a year since 2001.

Gazprom has always met its contractual obligations and today it is able to satisfy any solvent demand for gas on both domestic and foreign markets. “Today we are meeting in St.Petersburg, a city where next year we will start trading in gas futures for RUR,” Miller said.
