The first Russian offshore nuclear power plant will appear by 2010

The first Russian offshore nuclear power plant will appear by 2010, in accordance with the interview of Sergey Obozov, acting general director of Rosenergoatom.

He told that on the 14th of June during the visit of the Head of Rosatom at Sevmash enterprise the agreement about the construction of the first offshore NPP in the world was signed.

«The date of operation of the offshore NPP is October 2010. The cost of the project is 9.1 billion rubles», — said Sergey Obozov.

According to his words the offshore NPP will provide energy for Sevmash enterprise «and approximately 20% of electrical energy is to be sold».

Obozov thinks that Russia needs to create «a standard project of an offshore NPP, because of the international customers in Asian countries».
