The first offshore NPP will be constructed in Russia by 2010

The first offshore NPP in Russia will be constructed by 2010 in accordance with the interview of Sergey Obozov, acting general director of “Rosenergoatom” concern.

He informed, that during the visit of the head of Rosatom at Sevmash enterprise on 14 June the agreement on the construction of first offshore NPP in the world was signed.

“The date of future operation of NPP is October 2010, the total cost of the project is 9.1 billion rubles”, — said Mr Obozov.

In accordance with his words, the offshore NPP will supply Sevmash with energy “and nearly 20% of energy is to be sold”.

Obozov concerns that Russia should create a common project of an offshore energy unit of NPP, as long as there are potential international consumers of this product particularly in countries of Asia”.
