The Check of Smolensk NPP readiness

In October the commission of “Rosenergoatom” concern will inspect the readiness of Smolensk NPP to localization and liquidation of emergency situations.

From the 16th till the 20th of October 2006 at Smolensk NPP the commission of “Rosenergoatom” concern will check the readiness of the station to localization and liquidation of emergency situations both natural and technological.

During the check on October the 18th the start of local notification system, including the sirens of the industrial platform at Smolensk NPP, its sanitary — protective zone, and also the city of Desnogorske from 9:00 till 10:00 will take place.

“Rosenergoatom” concern is the maintaining organization of the working and projected NPP, and also of some enterprises of nuclear industry. The concern carries out the centralized management of Russian nuclear power plants. Nowadays the structure of the unified generating company – “Rosenergoatom” concern includes all the 10 operating Russian nuclear power plants where 31 energy units are maintained. Total established capacity of these units is 23242 MW.
