Russia does not see any political obstacles to its completing the Bushehr NPP construction in time

Sergey Kiriyenko said after his meeting with Iranian Vice President, the head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization Gholamreza Aghazadeh in Tehran on Monday.

Kiriyenko noted that the sides had thoroughly discussed the problems of the project.

Among the problems are the lack of financing and untimely supplies of equipment, especially by third countries.

“The sides pointed out that there is certain progress in the project but both Russia and Iran have yet to do much in the matter,” the Rosatom head said.

He noted that, technically, Russia will complete the construction as soon as possible. A group of Atomstroyeksport specialists will stay in Tehran for one more day and will submit the specified plan of action to Aghazadeh today evening.

In his turn, Aghazadeh pointed out that the schedule of the project has not been changed. “The political will of the two countries is directed towards launching the NPP in time,” Aghazadeh said.
