Boris Gryzlov urges to increase the share of the nuclear energy sector in the country’s energy balance
During the “governmental hour” of its Dec 13 plenary session the State Duma will hear a report on the reformation of Russia’s electric power sector and a report on the development of the country’s nuclear power industry and on the measures for restructuring the sector, the Speaker of the State Duma Boris Gryzlov said after the Dec 12 meeting of the State Duma Council.
He noted that Russia’s energy sector works mostly on gas. “We shouldn’t make it so one-sided and should take active measures to develop nuclear power engineering,” Gryzlov said. He expressed support for the project to construct a BN-800 (fast breeder) reactor at Beloyarskaya NPP and floating NPPs. Gryzlov said that the problem of nuclear power engineering will be discussed behind closed doors, while the report on the electric power reforms will be heard openly. To remind, the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko and Industry and Energy Minister Viktor Khristenko will be present at the “governmental hour.”
