Heads of regions will meet at Rosatom to discuss plan of joint action for nuclear power sector development

The Board of the Union of Nuclear Power Territories and Enterprises will meet at Rosatom on Dec 2006 from 10:00 AM till noon

The Board of the Union of Nuclear Power Territories and Enterprises will meet at Rosatom on Dec 2006 from 10:00 AM till noon (the chairman of the Board is the governor of the Tver region Dmitry Zelenin).

The head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko, the governors of the regions and the mayors of the cities hosting nuclear power facilities, heads of federal ministries and departments, members of the State Duma and Federation Council, directors of nuclear power companies will take part in the meeting.

The sides will considers the cooperation between the regions and Rosatom on two federal target programs:

— «Development of the Nuclear Power Sector of Russia in 2007–2010 and till 2015»

— «Provision of Nuclear and Radiation Security Guarantees in 2008 and till 2015.»

The Union comprises 24 regions of the Russian Federation, the Inter-regional Association of Nuclear Power Cities and Enterprises (10 municipal units and nuclear power companies) and the Russian Trade Union of Nuclear Power Sector Workers. The key activities of the Union are: coordinating the efforts of the regional authorities and Rosatom towards the resolution of the social-economic problems of the regions; developing and implementing programs and proposals for improving the structure of the regional energy complexes and inter-regional economic ties; consolidating the participation in the sector regulation; other tasks aimed at developing cooperation of the regions and nuclear power companies of the Russian Federation.
