19.12.2006 // REGNUM News Agency

In the framework of the on-line conference, the readers suggest building an NPP in the Far North

Over 60 questions have been received for the on-line conference of Director General of Rosenergoatom Sergey Obozov since the end of the last week. First of all, the Runet readers are interested in the sites for NPP construction, the prospects of the existing NPPs, personnel problems and the problems of branch enterprises.

Particularly, the conference web-site received questions about the prospects for building NPPs in Tula, Siberia, Magadan, Nizhniy Novgorod, Mountainous Altai. The readers are asking: Isn’t it possible to build NPPs in remote, northern and polar territories, where there are many vacant lands?

The readers also want to know how the personnel problem will be resolved: «I mean the lack of young specialists, catastrophic outflow of professionals, people who have specific knowledge and great experience in the sphere. The average age of those specialists is already over 60 — in fact, they are the Mohicans of the nuclear power sector,» says a reader.

The readers are also interested in the fate of the nuclear power machine building complex and the prospects of Leningradskaya, Kurskaya and Bilibinskaya NPPs.

The questions are being sent to the web-site of the conference and news@rosatom.ru

The online conference is organized by Rosenergoatom.ru and Rosatom.Ru and will take place on Dec 21 1:00–2:00 PM Moscow time. The questions and Obozov’s answers will be available on the web-site of the conference.
