Members of the Union of Nuclear Territories and Enterprises propose training personnel for the nuclear power industry at universities.

The chairman of the Union, the governor of the Tver region Dmitry Zelenin says that the last meeting of the Union was constructive. The conferees discussed the federal target program for nuclear power industry development, approved by the Government this autumn, and the bill on the property complex of the nuclear power sector, adopted by the State Duma in Dec. They made a number of remarks and proposals and pointed to a number of problems in the sphere, particularly, to the imperfection of the existing construction and installation complex and machine building industry in the regions.

The conferees stressed that Rosatom’s federal target program has set quite new tasks in the sphere and the Government, the State Duma and regions should fulfill them in full and in time. “This will allow to increase generating capacities in the industrial zones and to solve the general problem of energy consumption and gas resource saving. We should use the intellectual potential of our country in the nuclear power sector in order to attain the general economy development,” Zelenin said.

The governors of the Tver, Kaluga, Saratov and Ulyanovk regions, heads of 24 regions of the Russian Federation, the managers of Rosatom, members of the State Duma and Federation Council took part in the meeting. They considered the draft federal target programs “Development of Nuclear Power Industry of Russia in 2007–2010 and till 2015 and “Provision of Nuclear and Radiation Security Guarantees in 2008 and till 2015.”
