Sergey Kiriyenko made a report on the development of the nuclear power sector during the “government hour” at the Federation Council
The reformation of the sector through merging civil NP enterprises into a vertically integrated state holding Atomenergoprom is to be finished by the end of 2007, the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko told journalists in Moscow on Friday.
He said that the relevant bill (the “tunnel” law) has already been approved by the State Duma in the first reading and has been sent to all regions. “We hope that in Jan it will be finally approved by the State Duma and the Federation Council,” Kiriyenkpo said.
The ratification of the bill by the President will give a start to the formation of single integrated nuclear power holding. “All this work (to form Atomenergoprom) is to be finished next year.” “At the same time the restructuring of the sector is not en end in itself, the end in itself is development,” Kriyenko said.
He also informed the journalists that the completion of the Bushehr NPP project in Iran is carried out according to the schedule and Russia is fulfilling all of its obligations.
Kiriyenko added that the plant will be launched in time (Sept 2007) if two problems are solved: if the financing is provided in full and the equipment from third countries is delivered in time.
