Alexander Moros: Ukraine must develop nuclear power industry

Speaker of the Spreme Rada of Ukraine Alexander Moroz is sure that Ukraine’s nuclear power sector has good prospects.

During a conference on the development of Ukraine’s nuclear power industry held at Rovno NPP on Dec 26, Moroz said: «In the near future Ukraine will experience substantial economic growth and will consequently need more energy. We can increase energy production, first of all, by raising our NPP capacities.» Speaking of the development prospects, Moroz said that Ukraine should also develop alternative power engineering in order to avoid dependence on one source of energy.

Moroz stressed the importance of effective social policy and high attention to personnel efficiency and NPP safety. «All this will require a legislative basis and the Supreme Rada is ready to consider all proposals by power engineers in order to ensure a legislative basis for the sustainable development of the energy sector and the nuclear power industry, in particular.»
