09.01.2007 // Press service of Atomstrojeksport

On Jan 9 2007 the capacity of the 1st unit of Tianwan NPP was raised to 99.6%

Thus, the capacity of the unit has reached 1,064 MW (i.e. the energy system of China is receiving 1.064mln KW an hour).

Today, the National Supervisory Agency of China (NNC) has permitted Atomstroyexport to raise the nominal capacity of the plant to 100%. This will follow the raise of the generator capacity to 1,075 MW.

In 2006 the company completed the construction of two Tianwan units. The 1st unit has already been tested and has produced over 1.400mln KWh for Jiangsu province.

The units are to be commissioned in 2007. After that the Russian and Chinese authorities will consider increasing the number of Russia-made reactors at Tianwan and other NPPs in line with the protocol of the 9th meeting of the Russian-Chinese Nuclear Sub-Committee ratified by the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko and the chairman of  Defense Science, Technologies and Industry Committee Jang Yunxuang.

Note:

Atomstroyexport CJSC is the leading Russian organization implementing inter-governmental agreements on the construction of nuclear facilities abroad. Presently, this is the only company in the world who is simultaneously building 5 nuclear power units in China, India and Iran.

In Oct 2006 Atomstroyexport won a tender for building Belene NPP in Bulgaria.

Atomstroyexport gives top priority to intellectual property protection when building NPPs abroad. Particularly, in 2006 Atomstrpoyexport recalled its tender offer for building 4 units in China’s southern provinces after the Tender Committee had made additional conditions, those including 100% transfer of technologies.
