Press statement about the suspension of the 1st unit of Balakovo NPP

In order to remove the power failure in the safety-related systems, the operator of Balakovo NPP suspended the reactor of the plant’s 1st unit on Jan 29 :12 PM in line with the technological regulations with no automated protection systems applied.

The radiation situation at the NPP and in the nearby area is within norm. No safety limits were surpassed. The unit will be restarted within one day on Jan 30.
