Balakovo NPP applies for restarting its 1st unit

Failure at Balakovo NPP removed. The plant applies for restarting its 1st unit

The reactor of the 1st unit of Balakovo NPP (Saratov region) was suspended on Jan 29 11:12 PM, following a power failure in the plant’s safety-related system and the activation of the reactor’s security systems.

The suspension was carried out quickly and effectively.

By Jan 30 10:15 PM the failure had been removed. The plant has applied for restarting the unit.

No safety limits were surpassed.

The radiation background at the plant and in the nearby area is within norm.
