The technical design of the new nuclear power unit under the NPP-2006 project will be ready by June 2007

During a press-conference in St. Petersburg on Jan 29 Deputy Director General of Rosenergoatoim Vladimir Asmolov said that the project is the locomotive of nuclear power industry development in Russia. The first units will be installed at Novovoronezh NPP and Leningrad NPP-2.

As was reported earlier, the two-unit NPP-2006 has the following parameters: service period – 50 years, capacity factor – 0.9,  capacity — 1,200 MW, efficiency ratio – 34.6%, personnel ratio — 0.37 employee per KWh, capital investment ratio – $1,200/1,000 KWh, cost value per NPP – 1.5 US cents.
 
The project will last for 54 months. The plant can resist a 7-point earthquake and a falling airplane.
