Moscow is short of energy again

08.02.2007 // REGNUM

On Feb 8 Moscow may face energy consumption restrictions

The Moscow Regional Dispatching Control Department has instructed Mosenergosbyt (Energy Sales Department) OJSC to impose energy consumption restrictions on Moscow on Feb 8 from 4:30 till 8:00 PM. The press service of Mosenergosbyt reports that the restrictions will make up 227.6 MW, which is 1.5% of the general consumption and 1/3 of the restrictions imposed last winter.

Presently Mosenergosbyt is notifying the consumers that are subject to restrictions: a total of 202 consumers in Moscow and 9 consumers in Moscow region. The restrictions will not cover residential areas and social facilities. This measure is supposed to reduce the load on the energy system caused by a substantial temperature drop in the region.

The Department of Fuel and Energy Economy of Moscow has asked the residents to reduce energy consumption from 5:00 till 9:00 PM so that the energy system can work without fail.
