Government of Kirov region and Federal Agency of Nuclear Energy sign cooperation agreement

On Feb 15 the Government of Kirov region and the Federal Agency of Nuclear Energy signed a three-year cooperation agreement

The documented was signed by the Governor of Kirov region Nikolay Shaklein and the head of the Federal Agency of Nuclear Energy Sergey Kiriyenko.

The objective of the agreement is to pool efforts for implementing federal and regional target programs for ensuring radiation and ecological security in the territory of Kirov region.

The cooperation will be carried out in the following directions:

— implementing a common state policy for ensuring the safe operation of radioactive materials processing companies, radioactive waste storage facilities and disposal areas as well as the safety of radioactive sources and radioactive matters at Kirov-Chepetsk Chemical Combine;

— jointly considering economic and social problems related to the operation of the above-mentioned facilities and adopting coordinated decisions for ensuring their efficiency;

— improving the radiation safety legislation.
