20.02.2007 // Press service of Atomstroyexport
Atomstroyexport is expecting the arrival of an Iranian delegation for negotiating the problems with the financing of the construction of Bushehr NPP
The date of the visit is being discussed.
The head of the company’s department for the construction of NPP in Iran Vladimir Pavlov says that Bushehr is the key project of the Russian-Iranian cooperation and its stoppage (or suspension) is out of question. A number of key stages have already been completed. There are two concerns: “We confirm that we have not received payments under the contract since mid Jan 2007 and this has seriously aggravated the positive dynamics observed in Nov-Dec 2006. That’s why we are looking forward to the proposals of our Iranian colleagues on how to settle this problem. This problem, just like the general lack of financing for NPP, requires early and specific resolution.”
The other factor is the difficulties with ordering equipment in third countries due to the general situation over Iran. This problem has been discussed with the Iranian side and they are taking relevant measures.
Rosatom has instructed Atomstroyexport to shortly report it about the project and to analyze the possible consequences of the financial problems for the schedule.
During the talks the sides will discuss the schedule of the construction and measures for its successful completion.
Atomstroyexport is building the 1st unit of Bushehr NPP in line with the contract dated Aug 29 1998 concluded under the Aug 25 1992 Russian-Iranian governmental agreement on cooperation in building NPP in the territory of Iran.
