Atomstroyexport holds a conference with partners concerning Bushehr project.
Following Rosatom’s instruction for determining the possible consequences of the lack of financing for the schedule of the construction of Bushehr NPP, on Feb 21 Atomstroyexport held an enlarged conference with the heads of all the contractor organizations.
Atomstroyexport President Sergey Shmatko says that the conferees discussed the possibilities for further personnel recruitment under the current financial problems and given the refusals of suppliers from third countries to provide the project with necessary equipment.
The objective of the conference was to determine Russia’s negotiating position for the forthcoming meeting with the Iranian partners.
All the conferees were unanimous that unstable financing is having a negative impact on the course of the project. Over 2,000 highly-qualified specialists from Russia, Ukraine and other countries are involved in the project. The contractor has much to do on the site and the lack of financing will prevent it from increasing personnel and meeting the schedule.
The conferees have worked out a complex of measures for ensuring normal working process on the site and have discussed necessary conditions for the successful completion of the project.
Atomstroyexport is building the 1st unit of Bushehr NPP in line with the contract of Jan 8 1995 and addendum 1 of Aug 29 1998 on the basis of the Aug 25 1992 Russian-Iranian inter-governmental agreement on the construction of NPP in the territory of Iran.
