Russia is ready to establish nuclear equipment JV with Japan: head of Rosatom
Russia is ready to consider a wide spectrum of nuclear energy cooperation projects with Japan, particularly, the possibility of establishing nuclear equipment JVs in the territory of Russia, says the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko. He notes that some Japanese corporations are world leaders in the production of NPP components. «Japanese companies are interested in supplying equipment for our nuclear energy development program, while we are ready to consider the possibility of establishing JVs with Japan.»
Kiriyenko says that Russia is ready to consider the wish of Japanese corporations to prospect and extract uranium jointly with Russian companies. He points out that the lack of an inter-governmental agreement on nuclear energy cooperation between Russia and Japan is an artificial deterrent for the growing interest and commitment of the sides to enlarge their cooperation.
