Atomstroyexport continues the construction of Bushehr NPP in the maximum volume possible under the lack of financing

The situation following the stoppage of the payments by the Iranian side two months ago has resulted in a serious crisis: the lag in the schedule is growing, while the continuing uncertainty is resulting in outflow of specialists and stoppage of equipment deliveries.

“Unless the Iranian side takes decisive steps, the project may deteriorate. We can no longer wait for their decision. Further delay in financing will lead to irreversible consequences,” says the head of Atomstroyexport’s Department for NPP Construction in Iran Vladimir Pavlov.

Under such conditions Atomstroyexport has empowered the managers of the Bushehr NPP project to go beyond the earlier agreements with the Iranian side and to finance from own funds the activities that are decisive for the stability of the general project.

Pavlov hopes that the current talks between Atomstroyexport and the Iranian side will result in specific decisions. “The talks are quite constructive. The Iranian side confirms its commitment to solve the financial problems,” says Pavlov.
