Russia is ready to help Namibia to solve its energy supply problems, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Fradkov said on Saturday, Mar 17.
«We are able to open a new page of economic cooperation between our countries and are ready to jointly solve energy and other problems,» Fradkov said during a meeting with Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
He confirmed Russia’s commitment to take part in the construction of an NPP in Namibia. «We are ready to start joint development of uranium deposits and consider this project as an important element of our nuclear energy cooperation that would help your country to cover its energy shortfalls,» Fradkov said.
He noted that Russia is ready to cooperate in other economy sectors as well. Pohamba said that presently Namibia is forced to buy energy from SAR and hopes that Russia will help it to build its own NPP so that it become independent in the sphere of energy.
