The Industry and Energy Ministry of Russia has submitted to the Government the scheme of nuclear power facilities deployment till 2020
As the deputy industry and energy minister of Russia Andrey Dementyev said earlier, the general scheme is a well-grounded list of sites, areas and settlements where the Government will deploy electric power facilities so as to ensure effective economy and stable electricity supply in the country. The document has been drafted by a special working group set up by the Industry and Energy Ministry and comprising representatives of the Economic Development Ministry, Federal Tariff Service, Rosatom, Rostekhnadzor, RAO UES Russia, Gazprom and Rosenergoatom. The group has defined areas that are short of energy, has chosen a rational structure of power generating capacities and electric networks and has carried out a complex feasibility study of their deployment scenarios.
On Nov 30 2006 the Government instructed that in drafting the scheme the Industry and Energy Ministry should keep in view the electricity production growth forecast for the period till 2015 – 1,426bln KWh, with a possibility of a 1,600bln KWh growth.
The Government is to consider the scheme on Apr 19.
