Sergey Kiriyenko: In drafting the serial project NPP-2009 we will have to create a capacity scale
In drafting the serial project NPP-2009 we will have to create a capacity scale, the head of Rosatom Sergey Kiriyenko said during a conference in the framework of the Fair of NPP-2006.
He noted that presently Rosatom is drafting NPP-2006, a project providing for the serial production of 1150 MW nuclear power units. In two years we will be able to make the next project, the upgrading of the present project – NPP-2009.
Kiriyenko noted that in drafting NPP-2009 Rosatom will have to create a scale of capacity: new solutions to the production of low- and medium-capacity units — 300–400 MW, 600–700 MW, 1150–1200 MW. “We have many orders from countries that are just beginning to develop nuclear power engineering and it makes no sense to build 1000 and more MW units for them,” Kiriyenko said.
He noted that the NPP-2009 project will also contain 1500–1600 MW units as “it is economically expedient to increase unit capacity wherever high capacity is needed.”
Kiriyenko said that Rosatom gives priority to the solutions that can help it to reduce construction periods and costs and to solve the problem of personnel and equipment.
Kiriyenko urged the participants in the fair to quickly introduce whatever they have and to promote all the best in the nuclear power and related industries.
